Auto Collision Repair

Are you interested in building race cars, customizing motorcycles, repairing wrecked vehicles, or perhaps repairing boats or other watercraft? Do you enjoy watching American Hot Rod or PINKS and dream of having a career in the field? The Auto Collision Repair Program may be just right for your interests.

Many auto collision technicians are beginning to retire, which makes our graduates in high demand. The number of accidents on the road and the requirements states have for insurance create demand for repair technicians, too.

Repairing damaged vehicles isn't the only career option anymore. In the Auto Collision Repair program, you can design and customize all kinds of vehicles. You'll also find that the field has a number of career options such as repair shop technicians, refinishing technicians, and estimators.

Here at TSTC West Texas, you'll receive hands-on training in structural and cosmetic repair and in refinishing metal and plastic vehicle bodies.

You'll learn

  • cutting
  • welding
  • measuring
  • bonding
  • painting

Our labs and drive-in classrooms give you the look and feel of a collision repair facility. In our up-to-date computer labs you'll practice computerized estimating and color retrieval and in the program's paint booths you'll receive hands-on training in body shop paint processes.

The Auto Collision Repair faculty have years of industry experience. Their experience and the intensive training you'll receive in the program will help you develop the skills you'll need to return damaged vehicles to the road. Plus, you'll be able to learn the professionalism required for success in the workplace. You'll take courses such as these:

  • Automotive Plastic and Sheet Molding Compound Repair
  • Basic Refinishing
  • Basic Metal Repair
  • Auto Body Repair and Repainting
  • Vehicle Design and Structural Analysis
  • Vehicle Trim and Hardware
  • Shop Safety and Procedures

In the Auto Collision Repair program, students express their creativity and technical skills in a variety of formats demonstrating their own custom painting and customizing abilities. Some students also receive certification through an industry-recognized computerized estimating program.

All classes in the Auto Collision Repair Program are based on National Institute for Auto Service Excellence (ASE) and I-Car dedicated repair procedures.
