Mechatronics, Applied Engineering Technology, Automation Robotics -- What are they? What do they mean to you?

Mechatronics is a merging of various systems and controls, both mechanical and electrical. Sometimes, you'll hear this field referred to as robotics, or industrial automation, and you might imagine robots building cars and putting together cell phones. But, the field is more than that; it is limited only by your imagination. TSTC's Applied Engineering Program will give you the opportunity to learn the principles and skills required to be an Automation Technician.

If you're interested in an exciting career that combines computers, control systems, electrical systems and mechanical systems, the Applied Engineering Technology (AET) Program here at TSTC West Texas will satisfy those interests. You'll have hands-on experience with the equipment and systems of today’s technology.

In our up-to-date labs you'll learn to trouble-shoot and repair and make things work using state-of-the-art equipment, much of it donated by current industry. You'll learn the skills and tips and tricks to make you successful in this exciting field.

When you graduate from the AET program, you'll have many rewarding career choices in this extremely high-demand field. Among them are:
