Emergency Medical Technology/Paramedic
Prehospital Medical Professionals (EMTs and Paramedics) are the first to respond to car accidents, heart attacks, multiple casualty incidents, and many other types of emergency and non-emergency medical calls. Every case is a new challenge; every situation is a possible life-saving opportunity. If you wish to work in this rapidly growing health care field, if you have the desire to help people, and if a fast-paced, intense medical career appeals to you, then our EMS program could be just right for you.
Because EMTs and Paramedics must think and act quickly, our graduates must know what to do in any given emergency. In the EMS Program, you'll learn the medical procedures required to assess and treat victims at the scene and en route to the hospital. Our students learn in an environment that combines labs devoted to hands-on training using patient care simulators with class lectures conducted by our experienced, certified faculty. Another vital part of the program occurs in the clinical learning environment. During clinicals, students gain extensive on-the-job experience in hospitals and with various ambulance services.
Depending on your choice of a degree or certificate, you'll take courses such as:
- Emergency Procedures
- Anatomy and Physiology
