Construction Management Technology

Do you like working with your hands? Have you ever gone by a construction site and been intrigued by the way raw materials are used to create a house, office, or factory? Do you find the thought of five-day-a-week, nine-to-five office job for the rest of your life distressing? Finally, are you looking for a career field that is viable wherever you may travel in the state of Texas, the United States, or the world? If so, a career in the construction industry may be right for you.

If you're considering a career in the construction field, earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Construction Management from TSTC West Texas is a must. Not only will you learn construction techniques, technology, and theory, you will gain hands-on experience in various phases of the construction process and develop expertise in construction management.

In the Construction Management Technology Program you will cover every technical step of the construction process from the first shovel full of dirt to the final certification of occupancy. You'll participate in classroom and lab projects that incorporate project planning (estimating costs and budgeting), development of blueprints, the physical construction of a structure, and the final building inspection. Construction tools, techniques, safety requirements, the mechanical elements of construction, framing, and building codes are all covered in your classes and labs.

Our experienced instructors will engage you in problem solving experiences that you may encounter in the field. You'll develop critical thinking and other essential employability skills (including work ethic, teamwork, and communication skills) that are vital to your success in the construction industry. Depending on your course of study, certificate or associate's degree, you'll have the opportunity to take such courses as:

  • Construction Technology
